from Viruses with the McAfee VirusScan! Timid Seagal, nicknamed the Great One, Lord Steven, or The Master of Aikido, talks in whispers, mutters. He's now an aging, overweight action hero, nearing creepy pervert status. The Master of Aikido appears clumsy around the ladies, unnatural when comforting a young child, attempting to play daddy. Then again Seagal has never been known for his acting chops or social skills. Aikido is performed by blending with the motion of the practice partner and thus redirecting the force of the attack rather than opposing the attack head-on. And this is where the mysterious artist shines. Despite being an aging, overweight action hero Seagal still is as impressively swift with the hands. You'd expect his oponent was attacking in slow motion considering the speed of Seagal's response. Aikido is more reactive than proactive; protect and defend, movinn your opponent away from you. And this is where "Pistol Whipped" succeeds...it's another one of the MANY vehicles for Seagal to showcase his skill. Those who explore this outing will be certainly be disapointed unless they enter fully aware this is a Seagal vehicle, plagued with poor performances, ridiculous dialogue and predictable stunts. "Pistol Whipped" is targeted to one audience...Steven Seagal.
