Now an ex-cop, Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) devotes his time to winning high speed, illegal, street races with thugs and adventure seekers. When his services are in need by the authorities Brian is forced to go undercover with ex-convict Roman Pearce (Tyrese) or stair loosely at prison bars.
The target is a brutal drug dealer named Carter Verone (Cole Hauser), swimming in wealth, surrounded by his several thugs, and bound to the sexy Monica (Eva Mendes), a undercover cop.
"2 Fast 2 Furious", the sequel to "The Fast and the Furious", offers us nothing but some sexy ladies in scantily clad apparel, several uninspiring action sequences, unrealistic and death defying street racing stunts, and a painfully weak screenplay. 2 Fast will be the film's rightful speed from big screen to a dusty video shelf, and 2 Furious represents the few who spent their money of this shallow entertainment. This is definitely director John Singleton's worst project yet.
Director John Singleton's resume includes "Baby Boy" (Tyrese), "Shaft" (Samuel L. Jackson), "Rosewood" (Jon Voight), "Higher Learning" (Omar Epps), "Poetic Justice" (Janet Jackson), and "Boyz N the Hood" (Laurence Fishburne).
Blond haired, blue eyed Paul Walker, reminding us of a jockey, or the captain of some football team, is flashed onto screen yet again like an object of good looks, striving to be turned into a symbol of desire. Walker might have his female fans, but his performance is weak, as though he sleepwalks his way through the film. His presence lacks the charm to hold our attention for long, and thus we immediately become bored by him. In the case of "The Fast and the Furious", it was thought Walker would be put in the spotlight, but it was his co-star, Vin Diesel who stole the show. This time around, Walker looses the spotlight again…and this time it's no compliment to either party. Walker's films include "Meet the Deedles", "Pleasantville", "Varsity Blues", "She's All That", "The Skulls", and "The Fast and the Furious".
Actor, model, and musician Tyrese somehow manages to steal the show, but fails to be memorable. Tyrese unconvincingly portrays raw roughness like Diesel had mastered in "The Fast and the Furious". It's a sad display. Tyrese's film debut was "Baby Boy", also directed by John Singleton.
The cast includes the sexy Latino Eva Mendes ("All About the Benjamins", "Training Day"), in a underused role, villain Cole Hauser ("Tears of the Sun", "Hart's War"), afro wearing Ludacris, Thom Barry ("Rules of Engagement", "Air Force One"), James Remar ("What Lies Beneath", "Psycho"), and Devon Aoki ("Death of a Dynasty").
