You could say this effort features a Charlie-like character but it lacks the creative substance that endures in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". "Toys" features a child-like, eccentric, over-the-top Robin Williams, a solid Michael Gambon, and a fantasy set and atmosphere reminding of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". Unfortunately, only a few mere smirks are offered credited to a outlandish screenplay that worsens with time.
