"Whenever you meet a beautiful woman, just remember somewhere there's a man who's sick of shagging her."

Alfie (Jude Law) isn't in love with a woman…he loves them all. This playboy moves from woman to woman, never allowing emotions to become a companion - his actions are about to have consequences.

Alfie, remake of the 1966 film with the same title (starring Michael Caine), is an lightly humorous and bittersweet depiction of a womanizer, occasionally accompanied with witty dialogue, an intriguing stylish flare, and numerous beautiful women. Despite the film's flaws and screenplay shortcomings, all of this can be overlooked, and in this instance, all herein falls into submission to our leading man…Jude Law. Alfie might not explore the emotions of it's original, however, it is the presence, the irresistible charm of Jude Law, reminding audiences of a young Cary Grant, that promotes the film, forcing audiences to befriend our promiscuous character. We even hope Alfie the heartbreaker, the emotionally unattached, the commitment fearing, will find true happiness.

Director Charles Shyer resume includes "Father of the Bride" (Steve Martin), "Father of the Bride Part II" (Steve Martin), "Baby Boom" (Diane Keaton), "I Love Trouble" (Julia Roberts), and "Irreconcilable Differences" (Ryan O'Neal).

Academy Award nominee Jude Law ("The Talented Mr. Ripley", "Cold Mountain") has never been so charming, and along with his good looks and dashing style, turns Alfie into an irresistible character, despite his obvious moral shortcomings (an outcome the filmmakers may or may not have intended).

The cast includes Marisa Tomei ("In the Bedroom", "Anger Management"), Omar Epps ("Big Trouble", "Against the Ropes"), Nia Long ("Boiler Room", "Big Momma's House"), Sienna Miller, and Susan Sarandon ("Shall We Dance", "Moonlight Mile").

Alfie, in comparison to the original, is a much sexier, stylish effort, even in some instances, executing the same sequences with more glamour, and at times more shock value. The biggest difference is Alfie is far more likable, charming both his women and audiences.
